CrossFitters: Ready for Anything

 In Stuff We Say

So, you never know when or how our current civilization will end.  Zombies seem to be what most people are hoping for.  But whatever it may be, we should be prepared.

Since we are CrossFitters we already have a community of physically fit individuals to fight the darkness and reestablish the human race with.  We are already moving toward disaster preparedness with our Self Defense Workshop and pending shooting range visit (I hope we get that far).

Each of us should prepare personal survival kits.  Aside from the obvious items like MRE’s, personal gas masks and sleeping bags, you may want to shop around and find the most bang for your space.  I found some great suggested items in the article Gadgets to Survive the Apocalypse; I really like their thinking with solar power.  Until I started looking around, I had no idea that you could get para-cord in a stylish bracelet.  This will allow not only survival, but also person expression during the end of the world as we know it.  And, I was extremely excited to find that Gerber (not the baby food) has an Apocalypse Kit, now I don’t have to buy just one bladed weapon.

In case the Apocalypse catches you unprepared, you need to think and act fast.  You can find appropriate gear to loot by using the Map of the Dead.  You will probably only have a limited time to look this up online, so you might want to familiarize yourself with the locations of your closest pawn shops and hiking gear stores- especially if you have been laxed in putting together your kit.

Once the apocalypse begins, we need to come together.  If possible, make it to the gym.  We should agree on other local pick up spots so that groups from the gym can come and pick up families who are having a hard time making it in.

This is the best we can do on such short notice, but if we make it through tomorrow, maybe some long range planning should be in effect.  I am open to suggestions.
