Sleep is important.  Many physiological processes involved in tissue repair, memory function, and good hormonal regulation take place at accelerated rates or only take place when you sleep.  Some researchers have linked lack of sleep to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and a host of psychological disorders.  Even if lack of sleep is not pathological in an individual, those who sleep less than 6 hours a night are making poor food and exercise choices.  A sleep deprived brain is less likely to drive an individual to the gym and more likely to crave a doughnut.  Long-term lack of sleep has some pretty dire consequences like increased risk of stroke and the fact you look like an idiot because you cannot learn or remember anything.  So…
