I needed something ‘different’ in the fall of 2012 when I felt like I wasn’t being challenged enough and life at the globo-gym was getting boring. I was overweight, but what really bothered me was how weak I had become. I wanted to feel strong again. Feeling powerful is as much mental as it is physical, and I wanted to strengthen both. I had heard Crossfit was different, and so I walked into my first Crossfit box and thought the same thing everyone else does: this is it?!?! No glitz or glamour, nothing flashy – just a bunch of well used equipment and a group of people.
You’ll find that the people become your reason for doing Crossfit. Every extra needed push to finish or do more than you think you can do comes from your extended box family who will sweat and hurt and laugh right alongside you until everyone is done. This is the essence of what Crossfit is to me. Five years later and I still have weaknesses to work on, but I have never been stronger or felt more powerful. So come join us. Drink the Kool-Aid. You won’t regret it.
